Family Music & Me
Â
Our Family Music & Me class is a vibrant, weekly 1-hour session designed for Families of preschoolers (ages 9 mo to 5 yrs). Unlike traditional "Mommy and Me" classes, this program breaks the mold by explicitly welcoming caregivers to bring grandparents, siblings, fathers, and other family members to join the circle. Â The class offers structured educational and fun music and movement activities like hello songs, goodbye lullabies, rhythm games, instrument exploration, folk dances, movement with scarves and ribbons, introducing many genres of music, from traditional nursery songs, to classical, folk, and popular music.
Early Childhood is the best window of opportunity for caregivers and families to learn how to enrich their child's music environment, increase music potential and understand music development, while bonding over shared music appreciation, creating a joyful, and deeply supportive community. This class is intentionally designed to double as a stealth parenting workshop and a family relief valve. How does Family Music & Me Class help with Parenting?
-
Normalizes the "Chaos": Parents often feel judged when their preschooler acts out. In this class, running around, singing off-key, and minor meltdowns are completely normalized. It provides a safe space to practice co-regulation without public scrutiny.
-
Models Positive Discipline & Play: The instructor subtly models how to use rhythm, song, and redirection to manage transitions. Parents learn "clean-up songs" and musical cues they can take home to make bedtime, tooth-brushing, and getting dressed much easier.
-
Strengthens the Extended Village: By inviting grandparents and older siblings, the class shares the "parenting load." Grandparents feel deeply connected and useful, older siblings practice empathy and patience with younger ones, and primary parents get a brief chance to step back and watch their family thrive.
-
Deepens Emotional Bonding: Through shared laughter during karaoke or eye contact during a lullaby, the class triggers oxytocin release for the whole family. It reframes the parent-child relationship around joy rather than just routines and chores.
Registration midsession when space is available will be at prorated cost.
